Your weekly Washtenaw County update on all the local happenings (Feb 15th-Feb 21st)
Happy Thursday Friends!
Only 33 days until spring! đź
But who am I kidding? A date on a calendar doesnât mean much in Michigan. This meme is a more accurate breakdown of what the seasons feel like. đ
Not sure if weâre in 2nd winter or 3rd winter at this point?
I digress...
Letâs jump right into the events & live music happening throughout Washtenaw County this next week!
đ Special Events This Weekend
1 thing to do this week thatâs free:
đ ď¸ Have something that needs repair, but donât know how to fix it? Take it to âFix It Fridayâ at Maker Works this Friday from 4-6pm before you toss it for a chance* to get it repaired for free. This is a really cool workshop space for all kinds of makers & creators and a special event they offer to the public on the 3rd Friday of every month. You can also volunteer to help with repairs if youâre a handy person who enjoys tinkering with things!
*The motto is âfree but no guarantee!â Volunteers will do their best to help diagnose and/or fix your item, but they canât make any promises đ
1 thing to do this week with kids:
âď¸ Check out one of the shows at the planetarium at the UM Natural History Museum. Tickets are $8/each for ages 3 & up and they have a few different shows they offer at various days/times throughout the weekend and on Monday!
1 outdoor activity to do this week:
â¸ď¸ Go ice skating this Friday at Buhr Park from 7:15-8:45pm. This weekâs theme is Wild Wild West - themed music will be played and costumes are encouraged! $3 skate rentals and $5-$6 admission depending on age.
1 indoor activity to do this week:
đ Get tickets to see a live performance by the Martha Graham Dance Company this weekend OR attend a free dance workshop led by a member of the dance company this Saturday from 11am-12pm
Need more ideas?
đĄ If none of those peak your interest, tell me what does! I love hearing from all of you and would love to hear what youâd like to see more of.
I also highly encourage you to check out the calendar of events at your local library branch. They offer so many free events each week (for adults and kids) that cater to many different interests!
And make sure you join our AA Insider Facebook group to get more local recommendations & connect with others in the community!
