What to Do This Weekend in Ann Arbor: KidFest, Mix Studios 5K, StorySLAM + Cinco de Mayo

Plan your weekend in the Ann Arbor area! Family-friendly events, local art, a nature-filled KidFest, a scenic Ypsi 5K, tacos + margs, and a live Moth StorySLAM.

Hi neighbors!

From art workshops to outdoor concerts, tacos to 5Ks—this weekend’s got a little bit of everything (including margaritas). Let’s dive in.

📰  What’s New?

☀️The Yard is Open at Sam Hill!
Summer has officially arrived: Sam Hill’s awesome outdoor patio, The Yard, is now open! And, this Sunday 10% of all purchases support The Mamas Network if you order any food or drinks! You don’t have to buy anything to come, but it’s a win-win if you do.

++ Speaking of The Mamas Network, this organization recently opened Little Break—a new co-working space with on-site childcare. An amazing and much-needed space for parents who need a space to work without arranging separate childcare! You can reserve a tour and a free 1-hour slot to check it out on their website.

🗓️ What’s Happening?

Gouache Painting at the Library | Saturday, May 3 | 3–4PM | Pittsfield Branch
Get artsy with local tattoo artist Janet Nelson (of Brite Idea Tattoo) as she shows off her gouache techniques. Try them yourself and leave with a mini masterpiece!

KidFest at Leslie Science & Nature Center | Saturday, May 3 | 3–5PM
Family concert? Check. Nature vibes? Check. Bouncy, joyful music by Joe Reilly that gets the whole fam dancing? Also check. Bring a blanket and snacks, and help raise funds for First Steps PTO.

The Mix 5K in Depot Town | Sunday, May 4 | 9AM | Ypsi
Run, walk, stroll—this relaxed 5K winds through Riverside and Frog Island Park with zero street crossings.

Cinco de Mayo at Revel Run | Sunday, May 4 | Chelsea
Tacos. Frozen margs. Live music. Need I say more? Local artist Josh Silas drops his new album, and Tacos y Tortas brings the flavor.

The Moth StorySLAM: Small World | Tuesday, May 6 | 6PM | Blind Pig
Have a story about fate, coincidences, or weirdly timed run-ins? Come tell it—or just listen in at this always-packed storytelling showdown.

🏠 Thinking about making a move in the Ann Arbor area?

The spring market is heating up! Whether you want to buy or sell (or you’re just beginning to consider it), I’d love to help.
